I didn’t want to risk losing over six years of carefully curated playlists. So, I decided to build a tool to back them up. And here we are!

We've put together some of our most asked questions

The easiest way is to connect your Spotify account once: we then list all of your playlists, private and collaborative ones included, and you download a CSV (Excel) backup of any of them with one click. We only read your playlists, we never change them. Here's how:
  1. Open the backup page and click 'Connect Spotify'.
  2. Pick a playlist from your list.
  3. Click 'Backup', then download your CSV file.

Prefer not to connect, or need a playlist that is not yours? You can still paste a playlist link instead: copy it from Spotify (right-click the playlist → Copy link to playlist) and paste it on the backup page. This works for playlists that are public on Spotify.

Note: The time it takes depends on the size of your playlist.

The Importer helps you restore playlists from your backup file back into your Spotify account. Here's how it works:

  1. Upload your saved CSV file and choose a name for your new playlist.
  2. You’ll be redirected to Spotify’s official site to log in and authorize access.
  3. Once authorized, the tool will create the playlist in your account.

When Importing you agree to the needed scopes, which allows and gives us access to your account and lirbary to write the playlist

To recreate your playlist in your Spotify account, we require the following permissions:

  1. playlist-modify-public – to create public playlists.
  2. playlist-modify-private – to create private playlists.

Currently, we only support Spotify. However, we’re actively working on adding support for other platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud.

Larger playlists may take a little longer to process. If your playlist has more than 1,000 songs, please be patient — the tool will continue working until it’s complete.

We only store the data needed to provide and improve this service.
When you register or log in, we securely save your account details, such as your email address and chosen login method (Google, Spotify, or email/password).
We also keep records of your backups and imports, so you can access and manage them later.
Importantly, we never store your Spotify or Google passwords, and your playlist content is processed only when you actively create a backup or import. All sensitive information is encrypted and handled with care.

A one-time backup protects a playlist as it looks today. Automatic backups keep protecting it as it changes — the tool re-exports your playlists to CSV on a recurring schedule and emails the latest files to you, with nothing to remember.

Why automate your Spotify playlist backups?

Playlists change constantly — you add songs, tracks get removed, collaborators edit shared lists. A single manual export only captures one moment. Automatic backups mean:

  • You always have a recent copy without having to remember to run it.
  • You can look back at how a playlist changed over time across the emailed files.
  • If a song disappears from Spotify, it's still recorded in your latest backup.

How automatic backups work

You tell the tool which playlists to watch by adding their playlist IDs. From then on, on a recurring schedule, it:

  1. Re-exports each of your scheduled playlists to a fresh CSV file.
  2. Emails you the latest backups as attachments, so a copy also lives in your inbox.

It's the same CSV format as a manual backup — one row per track, with the song, artists, and Spotify links. You don't have to open the site for it to run.

How to set it up

Automatic, scheduled backups are part of the Pro plan.

  1. Subscribe to Pro.
  2. Open the scheduled-backup page and add the playlist ID of each playlist you want backed up automatically.
  3. That's it — the tool re-exports those playlists on schedule and emails you the CSV files.

Prefer a one-off backup instead? You can still export any playlist for free from the backup page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do anything after setting it up?

No. Once a playlist is scheduled, the backups run on their own and arrive by email.

What do I receive?

An email with your latest playlist backups attached as CSV files — the same format you'd get from a manual export.

Is automatic backup free?

Manual, one-off backups are free. Automatic scheduled backups are a Pro feature. See the plans for what each tier includes.

Can I stop or change a scheduled backup?

Yes. You can edit or remove any scheduled playlist from the scheduled-backup page at any time.
